Dust, and a lot of it I might add!

Here I am again, making another post on my blog, exciting, huh?! Well anyways, back on topic.

I've been having some issues with my computer, the kind where I would be playing a game and all of the sudden, bang, the display would go blank then my sound would just flip out and make all sorts of weird noises. So I dealt with that problem for about a week or so, then decide to do something about it. The first thing that came to mind was to check the heat-sink for any dust blockage, and boy did I find some dust inside the fan area. I usually clean out my PC when I notice dust building up on the CPU fan and other areas of the PC, to keep it working in peek condition. But I've neglected to throughly check the video card heat-sink for dust, which ended up with what is seen in the video below:



Lot of dust, am I right? So after I made that video, the computer worked great! Well, for a couple of days anyways... I resumed the computer from sleep one morning, and to my horror, I started noticing some artifacts on the screen. Parts of the screen were what looked to be the Windows desktop, and other parts of the screen were just random lines and colors. So the first thing I did, was to checked the GPU(Graphics processing unit) temperate, which was, actually, very cool for the card I had. So, I'm now assuming that I waited too long to get that darn dust out of my, now lonely, computer. And my guess is that the RAM on the card is no longer working right, and am getting corrupt areas of ram, causing the random lines and colors on the screen. And by the way, the card I had was a Radeon HD 3850, which was a good card while it lasted, it will be missed.

So I found a old card that I had laying around, which was the Radeon HD 3450, and this card and my computer are now buddies(hehe.) But unfortunately this card was not as powerful as my previous, so my gaming performance suffers as a result, for now. So, I am now on the hunt, looking for a newer series card to throw in to my computer. Well on second though, put gently into the computer. I'm leaning toward a Radeon HD 5750, for the price and performance ratio best suited for me at the moment.
