Email at Disposal

Recycling old emails?

Yahoo has proposed to allow email accounts that haven’t been logged into for more than a year to be recycled... I personally find this revolting as all the personal information once attached to that account will then be accessible from the new owner, as in they might potentially be able to log into any bank accounts that still have that email set as the primary holder by requesting a password reset which typically just sends a link to the email listed on file...

Also, I feel that there will be more of a movement to personalized emails, as more domain names are about to be available from the ICANN, and it just seems that people will want to stand out more rather than just having a generic ymail or gmail address extension.

any good online service allows you to use any email you like without being forced into using a particular email service.

The only thing keeping lots of people on the mass email services is the spam filters that they implore, but these spam filters should be more open sourced in my humble opinion, so that all may all reap the benefits of the research that goes into these technologies.

Also technologies like OpenID made these steps more easily accessible once the community of websites at large adopt these technologies more so.
